The Tsunami
Introduction :
This lesson "The Tsunami" is based on a true story. The whole story describes the sufferings of the people who were affected by the tsunami on 26th December 2004. Before the date, in the Tamil Nadu coastal area people are not aware of the word "tsunami". So when the big waves rise from the sea, people in the coastal area, don't know what they want to do. So it is the one reason why Tamil Nadu people suffered a lot. This lesson is about expressing the suffering of people in Katchal.
The reason behind "Tsunami":

If the land shake then it is called earthquakes, but if the land shakes under the seas or ocean that is called Tsunami. It is very powerful and it can easily sweep away anything from the land. Such a cruel natural disaster it is.
Tsunami's first hit :
On 26th December 2004, early morning there is shake under the seas. At first, it hits Thailand and some parts of India like the Andaman and Nicobar islands, and the Tamil Nadu coast.
Igneous:
In Katchal, Igneous is working as a manager in a cooperative society. His wife tries to wake him up at morning 6 a.m because she feels the slight earthquake. He wakes up and he too feels the same so he takes the television from the table and places it on the ground. After that, they move out of their home. After some time the earthquake stopped and due to their surprise, they see the huge waves from the sea. Due to the confusion, they rushed in the opposite direction. Two of his children holding their mother's father and mother's brother hands. That is the last look from his children. His wife also sweeps away from their family. At last, he saves three other children. He is the only men who live in his family.
Sanjeev :
Sanjeev was a policeman in Katchal. He managed to save his children and family from the tsunami. But when he heard cries for help from his guesthouse cook's wife, he jumped into the water to save her. But unfortunately, they both were swept away.
Meghna :
Meghna was thirteen years old girl. Due to the hug and powerful waves, she swept away from her parents and seventy-seven other people. With the help of a wooden door, she was floating for two days in the sea. In those days she saw eleven rescue helicopter but unfortunately, they didn't hear her voice. After two days she came back to the shore by a wave.
Almas Javed :
Almas Javad was ten years old and a student of Carmel Convent in Port Blair. Her mother Rahila's home was in Nncowry island. So due to the celebration of Christmas, all were moved to Nancowry Island. In the early morning, her father saw the sea and the water receded. So he knows that the water would come back with huge waves. So he woke up everyone in the family and tried to save them.
But in that time, her grandfather was hit down by something and fell down. So her father rushed to save him, but the first huge wave arose and swept both of them.
Next, her mother and aunt were climbing on the coconut tree. They cried for help but another wave washed them from the tree. At last, Almas saved her life with the help of wood floating in the water. After that, she fainted. When she woke up, she was in the hospital.
Tilly Smith :
On 26 December 2004, Tilly Smith and her family came to Thailand to celebrate Christmas at a beach resort. Tilly Smith was ten years old and her sister was seven years old. Her parents were Penny and Coil Smith. The tsunami was on the way. Their family had been triggered by the massive earthquake. When she saw the water from the sea were recede and the earthquake happened, she can felt that something went wrong. She recalled her Geography subject that she had finished two weeks before, she arrived in Thailand. Her teacher had taught about the tsunami and had described how it arrived. So she called her family and asked them to move to some high place. Her mother didn't know what she said. But she had a belief that something went wrong. So along with her family, others also moved towards the 3rd floor of the hotel. Like what the girl said, the giant wave arrived and swept away the people from the beach. So she was the one reason who saved so many people in Thailand.
Conclusion :
From this lesson, you can understand the sufferings of the people caused by the Tsunami
