Present Prefect Tense
Present Prefect Tense:
It speaks about the action completed just before the time of speaking
Structure :
Subject + has\ have+ verb (past participle)
1) Positive statement :
Has and Have are the representation of the present tense. If the subject is plural then we have to use "Have", if the subject is singular then we have to use "Has". So in between subject and object, we have to place has+verb (past participle)
Examples:
I have learnt C++ program
He has gone to the school
She has waited for him
2) Negative Statement :
For negative statement, we have to use "not" in the sentence. so in between helping verb and past participle verb, we have to place "not"
Examples:
I have not learnt C++ program
He has not gone to the school
She has not waited for him
3) Interrogative Sentence :
Has or Have should be placed before the subject. And after subject, we have to place verb (past participle)
Examples:
Have I learnt C++ program?
Has he gone to school?
Has she waited for him?
Where we want to use Present Perfect Tense?
1) It speaks about the action which starts in past and it still continues the moment of speaking or just finish at the moment
Examples :
- The foreigners have been in Chennai for six months because of the lockdown.
- She has waited for you for a month
- He has left the home for a month
- It has just started raining
- Just now, they have left the home
- The game has just started
- If my parents have arrived, we will start the function.
- If the minister has finished his speech, we will move out from the meeting
- We will receive water if the street persons have not arrived today
