Unknown Facts about the Taj Mahal

1. Shah Jahan got engaged to Mumtaz at the age of 15:
Shah Jahan, when he saw Mumtaz for the first time, he loved at first sight. His age was 15 and her age at that time was 14. He loved her so much, and due to that, they both engaged with each other on 5th April 1607. In between their betrothal and marriage, Shah Jahan got political marriage with two other princesses. After 5 years, which means 10th May 1612, Shah Jahan married Mumtaz with utmost love. After that, he got 3 political marriages with other princesses. But his love towards Mumtaz was not changed. Even though he had 5 wives, he loved Mumtaz to the core. Such a lovely couple they are.
2. Mumtaz died during childbirth:
Shah Jahan had a war in Burhanpur, so Mumtaz was also with him. At that time, the pregnant Mumtaz got labour pain. Now it was her 14th labour pain, which means she was going to give birth to her 14th child. That labour pain was extended up to 30 hours. Finally, she gave birth to a girl baby. After delivery also, the bleeding did not stop. Due to that, she died at the age of 40.
3. Mumtaz was buried thrice at three different places:
Mumtaz died in Burhanpur. It was far away from Agra. The Burhanpur war was going on when she died. At that time, it was not possible for Shah Jahan to take Mumtaz's body and placed it in Delhi. Due to that, at first, they buried Mumtaz's body in Burhanpur. After the war was completed, they took Mumtaz's body and transported it to Delhi. Then he decided to build the Taj Mahal for his beloved wife. He knew that it took so many years, so he again buried Mumtaz near Agra. After the completion of the Taj Mahal, for the third time, with so many formalities they buried Mumtaz's body in the Taj Mahal.
4. How did they build the Taj Mahal?
In those days, it was not so easy to build such a huge building. There were no proper transport facilities. Even though they took the Taj Mahal project and succeed it. At first, Shah Jahan announced this Taj Mahal project to the people. Then he discussed it with his minister and started their work. They decided to build the Taj Mahal near the Yamuna River. 22,000 people worked in it. And 1000 elephants were involved to transform the goods from one place to another. He forgot his work and started to give more concentration to the Taj Mahal. He forgot his kingdom's people, political issues, family, etc.., It took 22 years to complete the Taj Mahal. For 22 years, his only aim was to finish and buried her body in that palace. Now it's worth around 33 million dollars.
5. Building techniques :
If you see the Taj Mahal, you can find out four minarets. Centre of that minarets, the imagistic Taj Mahal we can see. It was slightly leaned outward. The reason behind it, if any natural calamities like earthquakes appeared, the 4 minarets would not collapse the Taj Mahal, instead of that it would be leaned outward.
6. Taj Mahal is taller than Qutub Minar:
Qutub Minar is famous for its architecture and the highest stone tower in India. Qutub Minar's length is 72.5 meters, but the Taj Mahal's length is 73. So the Taj Mahal was taller than the Qutub Minar
7. The Taj Mahal changes colour throughout the day:
The Taj Mahal was made up of Ivory White marble. But when we see the Taj Mahal in the early morning, it seems pale pink and grey. At noon time, it seems glittering white. And in the evening time, it seems orange bronze.
8. Special tickets for eclipse and full moon view:
It was so surprising to hear that, the government allowed visitors to the Taj Mahal during night times. But only 5 days in a month, they will allow or provide the tickets. The days are, before and after 2 days of the full moon and on full moon day. so a total of 5 days, the Indian government allowed visitors. The Taj Mahal is closed every Friday.
9. Taj Mahal is hidden by a Bamboo cover:
During the Indo-Pakistan War of 1971, the government decided to cover the tomb of the Taj Mahal. Because the Taj Mahl is one of our Indian identities. So to save itself from the bombers, the Indian government covered its tomb with a stockpile of bamboo. Nowadays also the picture goes viral on social media.
10. Black Taj Mahal:
Most people do not know about the idea of a black Taj Mahal. Shah Jahan wanted to build a Black Taj Mahal after the construction of the Taj Mahal. He wished to build a new Black Taj Mahal which should be opposite to the White Taj Mahal. The black Taj Mahal wanted to build only with black marble and after his death, his body wants to bury in the black Taj Mahal. But everything became a dream when his own son was imprisoned by him. Still, his death arrived, from the Red Fort, and he saw the Taj Mahal. Such a great and wealthy king Shah Jahan died, during his imprisonment. His son, Aurangzeb was not even building a single tomb for her father. Just he buried his body next to his favourite wife Mumtaz.
