This poem shows the sufferings of the animal in the zoo. We people easily go there and watch the caged animals. And we make fun of it. Just imagine, if we are caged in a forest and all the animals will outside and teasing us means how we will be?

The poet comes to the zoo and seeing the animals which are inside the cage. And he describes in the poem how the tiger will be inside the cage. Here "He" represents the tiger. The tiger is walking slowly in the cage. His skin colour is so bright and takes a few steps in the cage. Because the cage is too small compared to his forest. He places his paws without making any noise. His paws are so soft so the poet compared his paws to the velvet. Even though his paws are so soft, he has more angry towards the humans because of them, he is in this condition.
